Structure

The PhD programme has four curricula each focusing on a specific yet interconnected theme within the ERC domains SH04, SH02, SH05 and SH6.

The curriculum Sciences of the Human Mind (Cognitive and experimental psychology) aims at researching the human mind and its complexity with an interdisciplinary approach combining psychology, cognitive science, neuroscience and education, leading to an integrated and wide application of different theoretical and methodological approaches.

The curriculum Gender Studies (Women and LGBT Studies), with an interdisciplinary perspective, aims at analysing gender in its diverse interrelated social dimensions in order to lead and foster gender-sensitive cultures and equal opportunity. This purpose is achieved through research in different domains, i.e. information, education, and counselling, together with issues related to job access, decisional processes in relation to discrimination and diversity management.

The curriculum Education and Psychology (Educational and Psychological studies and applied research) aims at analysing, from an interdisciplinary perspective, psychological processes, relational and cognitive development, wellbeing, social inclusion, and education identifying innovative models for research and intervention that support active citizenship, empowerment and participation.

The curriculum Languages, Linguistics and ESP focuses on a specific aspect of the cognitive system, language, in its diverse dimensions and through different levels of analysis. It promotes language research from a theoretical, typological and variationist approach, as well as from an applied one. It also focuses on research on language in use through pragmatics, sociolinguistics, discourse analysis, and language for special purposes, and on language acquisition, teaching and learning.
